AS I START TO PLAN MY NEXT ADVENTURE I STOP TO MARINADE ON THE WORDS OF MY DEAR FRIEND HENDRI COETZEE

"These are the explorers of our era: board-short, sandal wearing misfits; at the core still the same type of restless souls who will forsake safety and comfort to venture into the unknown, and for reasons unknown. We have more possibilities than our forefathers had, to express our travel lust in productive and safe ways, yet here they are, risking life with no prospect of money or fame. An unlikely bunch of heroes, but to the last man they have my respect."

To come unexpected on a place of such immense beauty and magnitude is something I would not have allowed myself to dream about before the journey. The days of the great explorers who walked and sailed into blank continents and oceans are gone. People like me are cheap copies and wanabes. I don t care. To be here, to see this piece of art, to be allowed into nature s VIP lounge, reserved for the viewing pleasure of those willing and able to pay the entrance fee, a copy of the good old boys, still beats anything else I know.
