Sri Lanka is sultry and enticing: a glorious shoreline of dazzling white curves of sand set against emerald forested hills. The air is warm (averages 30°C) the breeze, ever so gentle, and the waves rise and fall without end. Timeless, ageless peace lives here.

A unique blend of simplicity and luxury awaits us at 33 Lake Terrace. A private villa in Hikkaduwa, where elegant architecture, cool white walls and minimalist lines invite feelings of serenity and bliss.

The villa we have chosen for this retreat is hugged on 3 sides by thick jungle ringing with the cries of peacocks and home to a myriad of birds, and on the remaining side it gazes upon the serene and tranquil lake. By day the lake is dotted with fishermen gliding back and forth in their turquoise and yellow catamarans, nudged by the breeze, kingfishers darting around them like arrows. By night, the prawn-trappers light their kerosene lanterns along the bamboo traps, like a belt of fireflies across the water; and the crab-catchers’ creep through the tangled branches of the mangroves, their torches flickering as they probe the mud for tomorrow’s earnings.
These are scenes that have re-played for millennia – scenes of ancient traditions, self-sufficiency and living in harmony with nature
This is where we will be spending the next 7 days, immersed in nature, seamlessly connected to the present moment

Our days will be an opportunity to dive into the ancient practices of ayurveda, meditation and pranayama, move mindfully through yin and vinyasa practices, sample exquisite local food, get massaged and ponder on life with enriching conversation.
