Cycles, vinyasa and life

I can't believe it's already September. Where has this year gone? I feel like I am just about completing a cycle. I left Cyprus for the UK and Uganda in April as the bee eaters were arriving from their winter migration and yesterday I heard the first few arriving back and stopping over to rest and feast on the bugs and bees that are kicked up in the fields as the farmers bale up their grass for the oncoming winter.

Cycles, endless cycles those I love confessing they love me too. ~ Martha Tilston

I love the cycles that are around us every minute, every hour and every day. The flow of the seasons, the rise and fall of the tides in response to the moon, a baby fern unfurling, the creation and the dissolution of a Tibetan sand mandala, the flow of Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation), What do these diverse phenomena have in common? They are all vinyasas, progressive sequences that unfold with an inherent harmony and intelligence.

"Vinyasa" is derived from the Sanskrit term nyasa, which means "to place," and the prefix vi, "in a special way"—as in the arrangement of notes in a raga, the steps along a path to the top of a mountain, or the linking of one asana to the next. In the yoga world the most common understanding of vinyasa is as a flowing sequence of specific asanas coordinated with the movements of the breath. Shiva Rea

The height of Cypriot summer bought family together, food, late nights, raised energy and fun.

Now the weather has cooled. I have taken a moment to exhale, find and enjoy closure in the activities I have been involved with. Each morning I watch the sunrise, sit in stillness, meditate, and find time on my mat. It's been a time of self reflection and observation, quiet time alone with my parents and deep chats about ancestors and my past. Figuring out what makes me me.... and who me really is anyway. And from this stillness there is growth. Seeds of thought are blossoming into ideas for the rest of this year and next. Travel, retreats, empowering others, leadership trainings and my next Yoga Teacher Training are finally in my diary. Dates decided, accommodation reserved. It's an exciting place to be at.

Thank you all for reading, being part of my life, part of my cycles. I look forward to seeing you soon.
